Google Phone? Why not Google Telepathy? The age of the Telepathic Internet is only a few years away. 02/17/2010 09:36 AM CST (STARpod.org) -- I confess: I am a big fan of Google. As far as I'm concerned, Google basically gets it right: complexity does not equal quality -- Microsoft are you listening? -- but complexity can easily eat away at valuable resources (my time, in particular). Take Google Docs as an example: it's simple to use, produces a fine looking product with minimal effort and resources, and is available from any computer in the world with Internet access. Neat. Simple. It works for me, rather than forcing me to work through complex features of little use to me. I'm also a self-confessed addicted "crackberry" user: so I'm not exactly a neo-Luddite when it comes to new technology. What I want is technology that does what I want, and only what I want, when I want it, with minimal effort. Today Google unveiled a new addition to their arsenal: the Nexus One smartphone. I expect a flood of mainstream media reporting on the Nexus One, but I'm reporting from STARpod.org and here we are more concerned with the future of "Nexus" technology. Personally, as much as I admire Google, I'm a bit disappointed -- where is the Google Nexus Telepathy Phone? Knowing a bit about how "the aliens" do these things (I'll leave that comment to your imagination!) it has occurred to me that human technology is not too far away from achieving a first-generation telepathic Internet. The cosmic version of the Internet, the Nexus "out there" connecting virtually everything that exists to a virtual interactive network, presumably includes advanced features, like spacetime wormhole tunnels and other super-advanced means of moving ideas (and their physical representations) about. Using the cosmic interface is as simple as a thought: ideas are immediately "hyper-linked" to desired locations. Who needs warp drive and UFOs when the network takes you anywhere in a virtual instant? Actually, it does remind me somewhat of so-called "remote viewing" -- a form of psychic perception once the darling of secret intelligence services -- and we now know, in fact (and confirmed by CIA-released documents) that the Intel community was experimenting with their psychic spies as a "telepathic communication system." These days we are a bit wiser in the ways of information and technology, if not information biology, and knowing what we know is enough for the military to reconsider more down to Earth methods of telepathic information systems. The latest thinking emerging from the military mind involves invasive implanted electronics, perhaps later supplemented with neuropharmacology to enhance the effects on the battlefield. A recent threat assessment written for the US government explores many of the risks associated with mind-enhancing methods currently on the horizon. On a more exotic note, with the above mentioned Cosmic Internet in mind, there are numerous alternative science researchers dabbling with ideas about how mind-to-mind communication might take place. Generally they involve some form of hypothesized post-quantum mechanics theory, involving unknown fields yet to be supported by physical experiments. Regardless of what path ultimate proves to offer the most bang for the buck, we are clearly going down the road towards an advanced 21st Century "telepathic" communication Internet. When it arrives, I suspect it will have mostly snuck up on us, with little warning. The seduction of instant communication at the push of a thought is too great: the transition from a mouse-click to the light bulb hanging over your head may be only a few years away. When that moment arrives, I suspect Google will be involved, one way or the other.

STARstream Research is a provider of intelligence and analysis on futuristic national and international defense, security and risk developments. STARstream Research is an independent organization that relies on the input of a network of researchers around the world with vested interest in cutting edge and beyond the edge developments in exotic phenomenology and human effects. SSR provides information targeted to members of the defense and intelligence community by offering unique reports that examine topics considered off-limits by other private intelligence organizations. Founded in 2004, STARstream Research / STARpod.org is positioned to offer the public a view of the developing 21st Century, by providing a specialized synthesis of cutting edge information, background material and analysis not available anywhere else on line.
A former CIA senior analyst commented: "You do a service. Excellent analysis from what is officially released material needs constancy of theme and purpose, not simply "expose'" morning coffee. You do excellent analysis. I sure as heck am learning things I didn't know, but which fit like my hands in gloves I was shown but never allowed to try and put on."
